HYDROPHOBIC, THIN PROFILE AEROGEL INSULATION IDEAL FOR PLEASURE AND RACING CRAFT, COMMERCIAL SHIPS, AND OTHER MARITIME APPLICATIONS

PACOR, Inc., distributor/fabricator for Aspen Aerogels, offers aerogel insulation that is ideal for pleasure and racing craft, commercial ships, and other maritime applications. Sold in full rolls, cut pieces, or custom RapidWrap™ removable covers, aerogel insulation features reduced thickness yielding a thin profile that allows use in tight spaces common on any type of craft or offshore platform. Since it provides 2-8 times better thermal performance than traditional insulation for hot or cold environments, aerogel insulation can be effectively used in refrigerators and freezers or to wrap engine exhaust pipes. Physically robust, it is easily cut and conforms to complex shapes, tight curvatures, and spaces with restricted access, saving time and labor when fabricated on site. Because of its density, aerogel insulation also offers good acoustical performance as a sound barrier for low frequency sound and vibration. Hydrophobic aerogel insulation repels and resists water, making it extremely effective in a wide variety of marine applications.

The most popular aerogels for maritime applications are Cryogel™ (5 mm and 10 mm) for cold areas and Pyrogel® XT for hot applications. Pyrogel XT has been particularly effective when used in the form of removable covers to insulate exhaust pipes of engines.
